OK TRIED EVERYTHING MYSELF. GOT THE MOVIE TO WORK BY FIRST USING AnyDVD WITH DVD Decrypter, SECOND USING CLONE DVD2 TO COMPRESS THE FILE. NEXT I USED DVD Shrink TO BURN. USE DVD Shrink JUST LIKE YOU NORMALLY WOULD MOVIE/FILE YOU OPEN WITH DVD Shrink IS LOCATED IN THE DVD CLONE 2 TEMP FILE. WOULD NOT SUGGEST USING Nero!!!!! HOWEVER I HAVE AN OLDER VERSION OF Nero, BUT IT HAS SERVED ME WELL UP TO HITCH.

E 18:51:18 Failed to copy VTS_01_4.VOB!

Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You're running the same error that one of my neighbors ran on her DVD burner. The solution is to box up that disk and take it back to the store. Exchange it for a different disk.. There is nothing you can do to get your burner to read past that error, it's ON the disk.

SMSMike thanks for leading us Noobs by the nose. We need that sometimes. For someone like me who's not on here all the time, some of the explanations or instructions may as well be Greek! I was getting to 13% with Shrink as were some others here, and Decrypter was hanging at 5%. After reading through your posts I:
a-ran the dvd through my repair/cleaner because I did manage to get a scratch in it already.
b- downloaded AnyDVD which I've never used before, and the newest version of Decrypter. Don't know which I had but it wasn't the newest.
c- I don't know if it was the new version of Decrypter or AnyDVD, but Decrypter was able to now read the disk without hanging. I used the ISO mode because thats the only mode I'm familiar with.
d- I was then able to use Shrink w/ Nero to burn the ISO file as I normally would. I chose to burn the movie only, as I never watch the previews and extras anyway.
e- checked it in my DVD player and it worked fine.
Thanks for the tips! Hope the rest of you still struggling with this can figure it out.

I'm trying to rip Hitch with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, but its very very slow. For some reason, the ripping speed is stuck at 1.0x max and the CPU usage is 100%, which makes it impossible to do anything else. Anybody else having this issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

i did hitch last week; i did two back ups just to see what application work better, dvd95copy(all by itself) and decrypter/intervideo.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

I've read thru most of the problems and the several alternative answers provided, most of which involve using commercial software. I had a few of these myself at first. I managed to back up Hitch to my harddrive using DVD Decrypter V 3.5.4 with DVD43 V 3.9.2 running in the background with no difficulty. I was able to use DVDShrink V 3.2.0.15 to get the entire DVD contents to fit on one DVD. After this, burn it from the HD to media with your burning program of choice. Best of all, these programs are FREE!!!

Hi,
I tried using Decrypter first and then Shrink but that didn't work at all. It came out saying that the burn process was completed successfully but when I went to play it, the player couldn't read the disc. Then I tried just using Decrypter to rip and then burn and that worked but the quality isn't the greatest. Anyone know why? I'm using Sony DVD-R's.
Thanks!

1. Set up shrink version 3.2.0.15 to automatically burn with decrypter version 3.5.4.0 only.

2. Start decrypter and under mode select File. Let decrypter do its stuff. It may hang while it sorts the bad sectors. Be patient. When done, under mode, select ISO write. Exit out of decrypter.

2 1/2. Make a folder on your desktop for the reauthored movie.
3. Start shrink and select open file. Browse your root structure till you see Hitch. Click once on the + and click once on the video TS. Now do your reauthoring just as you would normally and it will go much faster because the movie is on your hard drive. When its done encoding decrypter will auto start and burn to disk. Obviously your pointing your encoding to the folder on your desktop. This is how I did it and it worked perfectly for this movie and all others with the new protection.

Hello everyone,

SlySoft just released AnyDVD v5.2.7.1 and one of the items in the changelog is support for the Sony Accros found on HITCH (US).

http://update.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD5271.exe

Will probably be officialy on there website in a few days, unless they make a few more modifications and make it v5.2.7.2 :)

I did it today. I used AnyDVD new version and X copy Express. you have to uncheck the CSS KEY ARCHIVE in AnyDVD. only thing you can't copy the entire disk you have to UNCHECK the entire disk in X copy. I did the whole movie but no menus. FOr all the trouble everyone is going through I wonder if the $19.00 would be more wirth while. lol.

I tryed DVD DECRYPTION and DVD Shrink Both version Every fourm is talking about. Decryption worked fine but file was to big to copy so I tryed to shrink it, Shrink kept giving errors. Yes I know how to use them I've done many movies in the past using decrypt and shrink. Have fun and good luck. Remember $19.00 LOL

I tried creaky's method (download newer Decryptor 3.5.4) and it seems to be working (at least it's passed the 10-20% point).

What did I try before this?

(1) My first try was the usual DVDdecryptor followed by DVDshrink. However, DVDdecryptor had one error that I aborted on at around the 10% point. Decryptor continued with the rest of the DVD (HITCH) without a problem. But Shrink didn't go anywhere! It said one of the IFO files (VIDEO_TS.IFO?) was not found.

(2) As a result of (1) above, I ran one of my usual fix procedures that I found somewhere (to no avail, other than to get a "Invalid VOB files" message from IFOEdit):

1) Launch IFOEdit and open the VTS_01_0.IFO
2) Click on VOB Extras and make sure all check boxes are checked EXCEPT:
Remux, Rebuild PTS, Split to 2 DVD-Rs, and Remove IIvu/Angle Point.
3) Select a new destination directory.
4) Click OK.
5) make sure Correct IFO Tables checkbox is checked.
6) check all streams that are to be kept.
7) Click Strip It.
8) make sure Correct IFO Tables checkbox is checked.
9) check all VOB Ids.
10) Click Strip It and let IFOEdit process the files
11) When IFOEdit has finished, close IFOEdit

In the new destination directory, IFOEdit may have created a couple of zero length files (VIDEO_TS.VOB and VTS_01_0.VOB). These should be removed.

12) Restart IFOEdit
13) Open the one of the new IFO files in directory D
14) Click on "Get VTS Sectors" and say OK to all of the dialog boxes

(3) But Shrink gave the same error. So I tried Creaky's suggestion to use Decryptor 3.5.4 and whoala!!

What a "hitch"!

Ashley
PS. Shrinker seems to be working fine now.

I still see people having problems, I have manage to copy the whole movie menus and all. This thread must have a lot to do with individual systems. I must say who ever wrote this program in to the movie has really turn some heads. My answer to this problem is listed in previous reply above. Someone give it a try and let me know how it turned out!!!!

Hey Im a newbie in a way too, but I figured alot of this stuff out on my own.Its not that hard! I was trying to copy some ps2 games and learned alot from this site. I then used the same info to rip moves that I had a problem with. So far the SONY movies are the problem ones but if you just use DVD Decrypter>ISO>then use DVD Shrink to burn, Alll is good! Hitch burned without A Hitch,,get it! I kill me.

MSI K7N2 delta,AMD 3200xp @ 2.2ghz, 2x1gig patriot low latency RAM, 2x 250gig Maxtor diamond/Max ATA 133 HDD, 256 ATI x700, Msi DVD-Rom, LG super multi dual layer burner. All in coustom Rig.Might be a bit old but plays Oblivion like glass!!

Hi, complete newbie here, please be kind. Trying to back-up my first DVD. Unfortunately I chose Hitch. I have an I/O Magic DVD R/W 16X dual layer drive and am on an older machine with win98 se and plenty of memory.

I have 1click DVD Copy, DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, all latest versions.

When I try DVD Shrink it runs briefly and I get an error message. When I try DVD Decrypter it runs to between 2% and 5% and then simply freezes. No error message, nothing. Read rate drops to zero and the elapsed time counter keeps going. Closing the program gets a "Not Responding" message.

Thoughts and opinions? Is this a Disk read problem, a system problem, or what?

Thanks for any help.
