I would recommend burning at 4x. Also there is a chance that you are not using the best media. If this is the case, set the target size to about 4200mb to 4300mb.

I have never used DVDFab to burn and I did not even know it had a burning engine until reading your post. I usually use DVD Decrypter to burn ISOs that I use Shrink to create.

If I have a DVD Folder, I may use Nero, but I sometimes still like to convert to an ISO and burn with Decrypter.

yea I read all the post and this seemed like the eaiest route --I am not as "burning/ripping movie literate" as some ...yes I am somewhat of a noob to burning DVDs so I chose the path of least resistance

Okay,

It's already been said in here. Use AnyDVD and DVD Shrink at the same time, and the movie will rip with no problem. I re-authored my copy, just having it shrink the "main movie."

Well it seems to be working-- ripping and burning with DVDFAB Express I just needed to make sure it burned at the slowest setting as I found out with burning all movies anything over 4X seems to skip--the wierd thing is is that the DVD hangs up at the beginning on one of my dvd players but has no problems on the other. both DVD players are relatively new and can play burned moviesother than that it plays fine now

To respond to your email, I am fimillar with DVDshrink use it all the time but--never toyed with anydvd and you say run them both at the same time? can I ask why? (sorry like I said I am kind of a noob to the DVD burning circuit) So I just run ANYDVD and then open DVDshrink and import the files from ANYDVD?

I had the same question a while back ... AnyDVD, is an automatic decriptor... as soon as you put a decripted movie in your drive it "hides" the decription .... you do nothing with the program ... its 100% automatic ....shrinks decriptor cannot handle this movie, any dvd can..... but AnyDVD does not "shrink" you movie ... that is why you need them both.

Before you go an purchase the movie again, try these two guides:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260734

http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56078

If you do not want to try the guides, let me know which version you have. If you have the widescreen, I can send you a PSL file for Decrypter. If you have the full-screen, I can make one for you, but i will require some info on your part.

Let me know and I will get back to you tomorrow. I am pretty much done for tonight and I will be going to sleep soon.

No problems with this one. Used AnyDVD and DVDShrink, and burned with DVDdecrypter. Perfect reauthored backup.

Cheers.

I am having alot of problem with trying to backup this movie.

I have tried to follow the guide jaguargold wrote to no avail. I already had dvd decrpter 3.5.4.0 on my system. I couldn't figure out what to deselect or what files to burn to hd. So I went and downloaded dvd decryter 3.1.0.0 and this version just hangs. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled newer version. What do I do from here?
I am a newbie here please limit tech terms as much as possible.

OK I followed jaguargods guide and this is what happened successfully decrypted movie as IFO files then went to copy the rest of the VOB's in file mode and I recieved an I/O error around VTS_11_1.VOB my version of DVDD is up to date it took VTS_16 and its related contents out for me so now what do I do is there a way I can just copy the movie only and skip this I am at my wits end with this here

Well I followed those directions above in the first link and did everything I saw no mention of VOBblanker so I didn't worry about it regardless I did everything as mentioned had the error about VTS_12 having a problem finding a decryption key or something like that but continued, followed instructions for IFOEdit as stated in the link above went to import to DVD Shrink and it still did not work, same error so now what, like I said it worked with DVDFAB just skipped in the middle possibly because I copied the whole movie on memorex blanks that may hav been questionable and probably compressed too much--well I have sony disks now and will burn at 4X or slowest setting on DVDFAB express and just get the movie NOT the whole disk with DVDFAB express and if that dosen't work then Im done I will rebuy I guess

Trust me, it is not worth buying this movie twice.

It is possible that you were having the problem with your discs. Did DVDFab fail ripping or burning?

When following the guide, remember, only rip the main movie in IFO mode and the rest in File mode. If you rip the whole thing in IFO mode, then you will have to re-author the movie and that will take a long time and is not that easy to do. Also, make sure that there are no extra decrypting programs running when you launch Decrypter, so close everything down before.

If VTS_12 is corrupted for some reason, do not rip it. It is only a preview. Just skip VTS_12_1.VOB and rip the other 3 files in the VTS. Then when you finish, blank VTS_12_1.VOB with VobBkanker. Do this for any VTS you are getting a problem with except VTS_01 and VIDEO_TS.

Also, only VTS_01 is corrupted with ARccOS. if you are not able to rip another part of the movie, it is because the disc is bad or dirty.

Finally, a successful back up of Stealth. Here's what I did:

oped dvd decrypter
put dics in
clicked ok for region
click file import (Stealth PLS text file - I got the link from one of the earlier post on this list)
click open (Stealth text file)
click ok
click decrypt
This took approximately 1 hour to complete.

Next:
open shrink
open files (locate movie on hd)
Analysing starts automatically
deselect anything not english (on the rt side of the shrink window)
click back up
click okay
Encoding starts automatically
Nero starts by itself.

I did get an error when Nero tried to burn at 8X. Might have been type of dvd I had. In any case I used a different dvd, opened Nero, selected to burn at 4x speed. And presto no problems. A successful backup. It played in dvd player just fine. Really crisp backup. Took about another 45 minutes total time.

Recap - I only used DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 and DVD Shrink with the PLS text file. Hope this helps someone else.

finally I used DVDFAB Express trial version this time and just burned the movie with no extras on the new sony disks I bought--I briefly previewed the movie I couldn t fast forward through the whole movie though (due to my touchy sony DVD player) the movie would restart everytime it fast forwarded to a new chapter so I had to go A bit at a time and from what I sew it seemed to be working w/o any skippage

Jaguargod,I did like you said with the movie only as an IFO and the rest as files I just skipped over VTS_12 and 13 since for some reason they wouldn't decrypt figured they weren't that important--still no dice--Who knows maybe I did something wrong (very possible) but it still wouldn't burn on DVD Shrink maybe i needed to decrypt and input that PLS file.

I honestly believe that the reason DVDFAB Express didn't work at first was because of the media I was using just looking at the sony disks vs the memorex disk you can see that they are thicker

AS for the way you explained to do it --I will go through it again and see if I can get it to work this time now I am curious on what I did wrong--do I need to use VOBblanker for the cells that I cannot decrypt with DVDD on the disk(VTS_12 and 13)

ok i have read through this thread but still face some problems.

i have AnyDVD 5511
dvd fabdecryptor latest.
latest dvd shrink
intervideo dvdcopy 4

i am trying to keep the menus intact but lose all the previews and extra audio etc.

i have tried combinations of all of them. the best results with intervideo is that the extras will play but when you start the movie it will play the warningsbut just as the columbia info is about to start it will crash back to the main menu.

when i use shrink and either try to copy the whole movie or re author it is like the files are merged with other VOB files on the drive. so i end up with a mix mash of movies.

The original decrypted files preview fine but when i play the backup files created by shrink they are mixed up. (1 sec ure watching stealth, then longest yard, then credits etc.)

as i said i want to keep the menus intact and lose the previews extra audio etc.

any help would be appreciated.

currently i am trying to re-decrypt the movie (after having cleared the drive of all other files and trying again.

thanks

I have not actually looked at what the corrupted files contain, but there is a chance that they may show bits of the Longest Yard.

I do not know why you are getting bad playback. You do not have the newest AnyDVD, but it is new enough for Stealth.

Are you trying to use DVDFab with AnyDVD? Do not do this, it may cause problems.

If the problem is in one of the programs, try using DVD Decrypter (do not use AnyDVD with it if you follow the guides). I posted 2 links above. One will take you to a guide for ripping the movie and fixing it yourself, and the other will take you to a guide on making a PSL file. Both are very easy and will work (I did it both ways).
