if it helps anyone

I had problems with installing cIOS36 Rev7. I used cIOS downgrader, then IOS Downgrader, and it installed fine, allowing the Backup Loader 0.3 Gamma to stop giving 'dvd-read' errors

i am having a problem installing cIOS_FIX.wad. When i try to install it via the Custom Manager i get an error returned -1 and when i try to install it via WAD Manager i get error ret -1029. I bought my Wii about a year ago and rarely used it. A few weeks ago I tried installing HBC but got an error about needing to update my wii. Foolishly, I updated to 3.4 and had problems installing the HBC until a fix came out. I have the HBC installed and downgraded my Wii to 3.3 and still had problems installing wiigator. I found a guide located HERE and update my Wii again a couple of days ago like the guide said. Now I am having problems even downgrading. This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello guys
I need some help. I have a NTSC wii with 3.1U firmware
I have tried my best to follow the guide that is at the beginning of this thread to install the wiigator's gamma launcher on my wii but it has been really confusing.
I'm having problems installing the cIOS that is needed to run the gamma launcger. It gives me an error "failed to locate temp folder, size 214xxxx something" and it's driving me crazy!!!!.
According to everything I have read, I think I have to uninstall any previous cios I have installed through the wad manager and then use the cios downgrade. Will this work? or do you have any other idea how can I fix this?
Now, this is what I did:
1.- I installed the hombrew channel 1.0.1 using the thwilight hack, that part was easy
2.- I downloaded the apps that are in this link at the beginning of this thread: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AI4N77F0
Here I was confused with the boot.dol and boot.elf file. In the hombrew channel zip file, it has a .dol file. And in the rar file that is located in this link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AI4N77F0
there is a boot.elf file.
what's the difference with those? because I replaced the boot.elf with the boot.dol thinking that it could cause some errors.
3.- Anyway, I replaced the boot.elf with the boot.dol and copied all those folders to my SD card and put it in my wii. I loaded the hombrew channel and performed this step of the tutorial "4.)Go to the homebrew Channel..click on WAD MANAGER..install CIOS36_rev5-64-v1042 "
4.- I skiped step 5 because there is a parragraph at the beginning of the tutorial that says I could skip it.
5.- I did step 6 of the tutorial.
At that point I was lost. I found some videos at youtube that said that I have to install the cios (the one with the sonic picture) in order to run the gamma launcher. I tried but I started getting the error that I mentioned before.
Later, I realized that inside the rar file that you download here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AI4N77F0 is not the wiigators gamma launcher :S.
6.- I found it in another page and downloaded. I copied to my sd card and tried to install the cios with no success.
7.- I uninstalled the cios I previouslly installed with the wad manager to see if that helped but it was useless.
8.- Also I installed the dvdx using the advanced setting and chose ISO249 to see if it helps but I got the same error.
Any help will be really appreciate
And for God's sake, could you remake your tutorial and make it a little bit easier to understand for someone that is doing this for the first time. The tutorials in this thread and the ones in youtube are totally different.

ok..i haven't redone this tutorial yet for personal reasons..as for your questions..step 6 was for the wad file that was created for Wiigators backup launcher V3(not the gamma version)...i just recently was able to look this forum back up..i should have it revised by morning..i am at work right now and should be able to get it revised for you..but not until i can get home..using the files in the rar file you got from the megaupload file..everything should have been in place where you pretty much just pick and choose without having to rename or move anything..but again this was for the beta version and not the gamma version..

Thanks evnflow for answering :D. But still, how do I fix the error that I get when I try to install the cios for the gamma launcher? should I downgrade my wii using the cios or ios downgrader?

If you have the Oct 23rd 3.3 or 3.4 firmware update then yes you will need to go HERE and follow these instructions to install the cIOS. You don't have to downgrade if you don't want but you will need to perform the first 3 steps in the guide to get WAD/cIOS instillation enabled again.

I know i should search for this and I did
Ive tried everything I found with no luck so Im hoping someone in here can help me
Please help me

Hi I just downloaded the wii music Iso (usa) version
I tried burning it in a DVD + R
Brand : Verbatim
4x certified
DataLife plus
I am using Img burn
When I put the game on my wii on both
Backup lancher and wii gator thing it will say DVD ERROR 324 and will not work

I have wasted 5 DVD's now..... all with different writing speeds and booktypes
What I have seen in IMG burn is that at first (before the cd drive opens and closes) My image buffering and devicebuffering stays at 100% most of the time.
But then after the cd drive opens and closes my image buffering stays at 100% but the device buffering goest to 0% and will not move at all.
Could that be the problem? and how could I fix it?

More info

Im on a laptop with 1.50 GB RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium
MY wii is on 3.3U
my current cISO is 249 (ive tried cISO36) with no luck
I can succesffly install wads (like wiiware)

PLEASE HELP ME......
It took me 4 days to download the game and I really want to play it
Please reply
Thanks

PLEASE HELP

Try using DVD-R instead of DVD+R.

Does anyone know if it is safe to do the updates which come with the games?

Hi - have just bought a Wii for the kids for Christmas and it came with Wiigator already setup and a load of games which work fine.

Q: How can I tell what version of Wiigator has been installed on the machine ? I found my way to the Backup Launcher setup screen and can see an "About" option but cant see any version numbers.

Also, since I'm a Wii-newbie (and cant do too much playing with the machine as there are too many little people around who are hoping Santa is going to bring it but are worried he may burn his bottom - and the game - as he comes down the chimney)...how can I tell what firmware version is loaded on the machine itself ?

Many thanks

Joe

So i followed the guide to the letter. Everything installed fine.

I get myself a copy of Wii Music run it through the back up creator burn it with imgburn. Put the game in it loads then the screen goes black when the game comes up the it's in black and white and the screen is rolling from top to bottom.

My question now that you have read my boring story is...
Is it the copy of the game, the burn, or the software.

This is my first time using any of this software. The idea behind it all is amazing. Any help with this would be of great help and it would help me tame the inner demon of a otherwise very sweet and caring 5 year old......lol

This was a PAL version of the game. I have also tried to use imgburn without the backup creator. The game will not even load then.

Go to configuration settings in the Backup Launcher and choose YES under FORCE NTSC then try booting the game (use the backup that scrolls black and white it should come in color if you FORCE NTSC).

Strife...if you're using an NTSC wii/tv then always try to download that type when trying to burn games. I've found that forcing NTSC for PAL games works on a very small percentage of games. I've had much more success with games that simply come in the NTSC standard.

I wouldn't think so. I use GeckoOS on my all games because with or without updates, I won't risk bricking my Wii. I know that the update for Animal Crossing can be fatal, not sure if this goes with all of them. But why take the chance?

On the topic: Is it possible to create a channel out of an app? I use Gecko all the time and it would be easier to have it's own channel, so I wouldn't have to go into HBC and load it that way.

How does GeckoOS work?
Would I just use it instead of the backup launcher?

Not sure about Backup Launcher, but GeckoOS can do region patching, and skips updates.
