Hey all,
New to the back up scene.
I just installed a D2pro9 of my Wii yesterday.
Mario Super Sluggers worked last night but today it comes up with a red screen saying "unable to read disk"
Any ideas why or how to fix?
TIA

I ran into similar problems when I first started playing backups. I also have a d2pro9. The games would work fine, but after a day or two, there would be disc read errors.
I fixed it by increasing the quality of my discs and storing them properly. I now use Verbatim Digital Movie Quality DVD-R, burned at a max of 8x. I haven't had any problems since I switched to this disc.

Ok, I'll try the Verbatim's It just seemed weird that it worked , then didn't.
Thats the first time i've heard about the Digital Movie Verbatim's, are those needed or are the regular verbatim's ok to use?
Sorry for all the questions....

I read somewhere about the quality of DVD-/+R's... I don't know if any of this is true, but here's what I've heard...
Each DVD company makes a batch of DVDs. In making those DVDs, some will be of better quality than others. The highest quality discs are usually sold as a premium disc (such as the digital movie line of verbatim) and the "just okay" quality discs get sold as the cheaper version for that brand.
So any brand's premium quality and standard quality discs were made of the same material and same process. Some just turned out better than others.
The "just okay" quality ones work fine for occasional use, such as computer software installation discs. Those spin up only while installing, so they are used very little.
DVDs used to watch movie might be spinning for 2-4 hours. DVDs used to play games are spinning the whole time you're playing. If you use a lower or medium quality DVD for gaming, it will deteriate much faster. So you should use the most premium discs you can find.

I ordered a couple 25 packs from X-tremegeek.com 2 weeks ago. The 25 packs were $25 each. They shipped quickly too.

i would just like to add a comment to this discussion, i have used many different types of media over the years in backups for pc, ps1, ps2 xbox, xbox 360 and wii, but my wiikey d2a wii can read any type of disc i throw at it im currently using asda/walmart own brand dvds burn at 2 speed with iso burner on a dell vostro laptop and never have a faulty disc, there thrown onto a spindle in the cupboard after being played to death by my lad and still work 6 months later so i think that expensive media is a myth burning at slow speeds is the key and keeping the discs clean before you put them in the machine is as important, thats the only rule i have about our wii the discs go into a dvd cleaner before they are played..
but thats just my opinion

I have a D2Sun but I am having weird problems. I get the disk read error as well, but I'm using Verbatim Dvd-r digital movie disks and it's not working. My disk will spin at first, but then start to give off the jerking sound and Boom! I get an error. I get the D2Sun Modchip is configured correctly, shows the green (okay) light, but doesn't read backups. Anyone have any suggestions?
