Im new to the xbox because ive always gone with playstation but have decided to go with xbox 360 60 gig because of price drop.My question is do you have to have a modchip to play backups that i own are can you just flash the firmware any help would be appreciated dont really no where to start are what to do

well you could have started by reading any of the tutorials out there, or done some searching for your answer. but yes you either have to flash the FW of your 360 or chip it. if you dont do either of these, then you will never be able to play your backup games.

I did download the xbox 360 for dummies first but just wasnt sure if that was all you had to do are you had to chip it and do that.thanks for the help

yup, either chip it (waste of money and time) or flash it, (free and simple) and either download or rip your own games, burn them, and play em.
