NEED HELP!!!!! MY SOUND ISN"T WORKING!!!!!!!

First my sound wasn't working at all. Then, I replaced the sound chip and the only way to hear music through the built-in speakers is when I plug something into the headphone jack. When I unplug it nothing happens. Is it possible to have placed the chip connection to the motherboard in wrong or is there another way to fix it? I am a noob at psp problems and the guy I get to help me has had a psp for years and he doen't know what's going on either. WHat's up and what can I do to fix it?
