Sometimes dvd rips to divx get out of sync, it doesnt matter what divx encoding app i used, iam currently using the official DivX Converter, last one i used was vidomi..it only happens on some dvd rips, the playback is fine in the vob format, and the iso format is self.
i currently rip with dvd hd fab (latest ver.) For awhile i would just say ok ill just keep it in iso format, but its starting to get on my nerves i have all the proper update codecs installed, using xp pro sp3
the disc that where used are clean/ scratch free, my rom drive lens is clean and encoding software is update to date...and as before i stated it only happens on some dvds not others..btw i hope this is the right posting section dint really think it had to do with ripping, so thats why i posted it in here, anyway thanks alot!

Assuming the ripped DVD files are ok when played back on the PC, use AGK for the conversion to AVI.
Run AGK, select the input file from the VIDEO_TS folder (usually VTS_01_0.IFO).
Select a predefined or custom size output file (1500 for a two hour movie - or 700 if you have my low standards).
'Add Job' and 'Start'.
This is the 'two pass' setting and is best run overnight.

use the free "fairuse wizard lite" , it only encodes ISO's to xvid/divx/h264. I have done over 100 conversions with no audio sync problems.

If fairuse gives you audio sync problems, more than likely the input files where out of sync to began with.

well i already paid for the official DivX Converter iam using now, so i would like to stick with that, thanks for the suggestions and yeah the playback is fine before the encoding process (playing vob/iso). so i was more of looking for i reason of what could cause it and why it happens , to fix it or a tool to fix the issue after it happens.. only last resort. my hard is defragged so i know thats not it, and it a well beefed pc, i just dont know why it happens or some dvd rips, but not others thru the encoding process.

If you are using the official divx converter, you might try the free "dr.divx 2.0" which works great with the divx codec you have. The times I have used the dr.divx 2.0 interface, I havent had any audio sync problems.

I've had problems before with the "divx converter" producing files that where out of sync. The video looked great but every once in a while I would get audio/sync problems.

I use dvdfabhddecryter to rip my dvd's (same program you use). That rules out that your input files are out of sync.

Years ago, all my conversions where done using the divx codec. There where some movies that I could never get a good audio/sync during conversion. I would try the audio cbr/vbr mp3/ac3, all produce the same results. I also tried to fix the audio sync on the finished divx, using other programs but that was never accurate. Even seperating the audio track from the video and then rejoining during conversion didn't work.

There are some programs that just don't have the capability of keeping the audio in sync everytime. Winavi is another program that produces sync problems everytime. I actually think that Divx produces the best avi video picture available, but the audio sync problems with divx made me switch to the xvid codecs, slowly I'm moving to the x264 codecs which produces divx like quality without the audio sync problems.

There is one thing that "fairuse wizard" does when it opens an ISO, it spends 3 minutes analyzing the video/audio and creating a file that is suppose to keep the audio syncronize to the video. It seems to work very well.

I don't know if you seen this post before, but it talks more indepth about the cause of audio sync problems.

yeah i did read that, but i dont know what is causing the issue, and the program "ProjectX " is for dvb the guides that it points to there at doom9 are not there and the other programs dont help, even as he stated...well iam trying dr divx for now it also takes a couple of mins to analyze the a/v, but other then that i guess il have to switch to xvid
