I creating iso files with DVD shrink. They work fine with VLC player.
However, I cant play the iso files with Windows Media Player 11.
It keeps telling me: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file".
Please dont answer me by using Daemon or other mounting utility.
I want that WMP will play the iso file as it is like VLC does, without mounting. Vista codec packege doesnt help.
Does this problem appear because I make my iso files from DVD Shrink?

I don't use WMP but I decided to try it. I got the same message you got but I was also asked if I wanted to continue anyway and I clicked on yes. The ISO played fine. Do you have any DVD playing software other than VLC? Something like Power DVD?
VLC uses it's own decoder built into the program. If that's all you have, then you're out of luck unless you install the proper codec.

I love VLC, and frankly I never use WMP-11.
The thing is that I have a sidebar (Vista) that works only with WMP.
This sidebar is capable of playing stream TV and files to be watch from my sidebar panel on my desktop. So this is basically the reason I want the iso files will works on WMP-11.

You might want to try the K-Lite Codec Pack instead of the Vista Pack
K-Lite Codecs
Originally had the Vista one when Vista was first released (figured since it was for "Vista", it would be better), but found that media player, etc still came up with the same error you've gotten.. I'm running their "full" pack (without QT alternative or Real Alternative) and have no trouble playing anything in either media player. (even if I do prefer vlc.. still nice to not be limited).

I wholeheartedly recommend the K-Lite mega codec pack, been using it longer than i can remember; plus vlc player have just released 0.9.2 of their excellent player. I don't like the bloaty and well, appalling WMP, it's got worse over the years (and wasn't great to start with).
These are the only 2 versions of Media Player that are any good in my opinion, the olde worlde version 6 ie 'mplpayer2.exe' and Media Player Classic available in the K-Lite codec packs, and downloadable separately too..

K Lite Mega Codec pack is definately a must. I'm also an avid VLC fan, and have little use for WMP. Creaky's right...it's only gotten worse over the years.
