new burner dont read cds... ?

Hey folks! just baugth a brand new samsung sh-s203, looks like a super dvd burner, but prob is that it doesn't read cds, that was burned with my previous burner, nec somthing. The new burner doesnt fire up, or windows freeze and the burner tryes to read the cd. the cds are of tdk brand and should be good enough, though. but anyway tryed with some sony cds and no prod there. the burner looks cool and is very fast. is it possible to use a application to read the cds or analyze the content, and extract it to an image file or something, without creating a system halt.. ? really need help with this one.
