Im totally new to this and as far as I can see i need to know a couple of things.

My need if to backup dvds because my kids think they can use them as frisbies.

I have 2 hardrives 1 is 20 gb and a new one which is 120 gb

I have a pioneer dvd + and - dvd writer and a cd writer.

I need a(bold) simple(/bold) answer to the question of which is the ultimate software for copying large dvds and not so large ones .

Secondly which is the best forum to learn how to do it. and who should i listen to

should i use + or -

or should i get rid of the kids and watch some DVDs

Thnks in advance.

Im not that old but i feel it .

The best copy software in my opinion is DVD Shrink for both short and long films onto one disc and there is no difference in quality between - and +R discs. Most new DVD burners will burn both anyway. After installing DVD Shrink spend a little time looking at all the options and also read the guide here:-

You can use either drive but if you are going to backup a-lot of movies at once it would be better to use the 120Gb drive. It also helps to have Nero burning rom installed since Shrink integrates with it and will enable a direct burn. Good luck.

I have Nero 5 which I presume is not enough ?

I also have instant cd dvd by pinnacle.

Nero 5.5 latest update is OK - this is 5.5.10.54 which you can download from here:-

Make sure that you completely uninstall Pinnacle instant cd/DVD before burning with Nero as there will be a conflict and possible errors or even a crash.
