Yesterday, my PSP worked fine. Then last night, out of nowhere, it got really bad. After it's been on for just a few seconds, it starts running incredibley slow, and the screen begins to flicker, like a tiny amount of static. Does anyone know what may be wrong and, more importatnly, how to fix it?

Yeah, what that guy said...
I didn't even know the PSP had a CPU speed control setting. Are you sure about that?

You can only adjust the CPU speed with CFW.
If you have M33 CFW press select when at XMB to bring up the VSH menu. There you can change the XMB ISO/UMD CPU Speed. I would set them to default.
You can also go into Recovery Mode (Power off PSP and hold R Trigger down while turning it on).
When Recovery Menu comes up go to CPU Speed.
Now set XMB and ISO/UMD to default.
If you do not have CFW then it is probably a hardware issue and you will need to send it in for repair.

If you have custom firmware then thats probably whats slowing you down if not... Your PSP is dead and its time to move on and let the reaper feast on it.
