i have them and i need to know if they are compatible with ps3 since i cant make them to work

It might work as a headset but you wont get surround sound out of them with the ps3.

The ps3 only brodcasts 5.1 through hdmi or optical.

Actually I do not think they will at all... at least for the game playing aspect. If you use your ps3 as a media center for music it ought to work through the usb, and perhaps movies but that's it. I have an alienware controller for the ps2, which also has a usb port... it will work while on the media screen, but when I play games it shuts down immediately .

I'd say you're having the very issue I am, compatibility up to a point.
