Hi all, I have heard that some Wii modchips can play backup games from any region without risks. This means that, for example, an NTSC Wii with a particular modchip is able to play a JAP Wii game. I'm not sure if this is true, but just out of curiosity, is such a thing possible?

Sorry if I'm being a bit vague in any part of my explanation.

Most modchips can play games out of region. However if the game asks for an update, this can brick your wii.

Supposedly a wiikey with 1.9s firmware has an option to block updates from the disk, but I've never had to test it.

Any game iso can be brickblocked to prevent the updates from running, so maybe use that.
