I tried using the Magic Memory Stick to install 3.71 M33, but when I get to formatting flash1, it just stays there and the PSP shuts off. I don't remember doing anything to the flash. I just watched a movie and put the PSP to sleep. When I turned it back on, a red screen popped up then a blue screen saying that my settings were corrupted. That screen kept repeating after I clicked O to restore default settings. I tried using recovery, but once I tried to go back to 1.50, the PSP shut off after a while. That was when I turned to Pandora's Battery and the Magic Memory Stick. No luck there for me, either. When I tried to go back to 1.50 directly, it said "updating registry... cannot write system.dreg."

The Sony code that restores flash1 on newer FW was replaced by a "bomb" that corrupts flash1 and erase some ECC data on the IPL region of the flash.

The missing ECC data is what causes the PSP to brick and the flash1 partition is purposely mangled to stop despertar del cementerio from working.

The Blue screen of death (press O to restore default settings :-)) is the classic symptom. Are you trying to go 3.52M33>3.71M33??

You need Cory's NaNdtool 0.4 and you need to repartion lFlash, then upgrade as normal and all will be good.

This kind of thing was programmed out by Dark Alex for the newer FW's.
