i don't know if maybe i'm just frustrated, but IRC hasn't lived up to the hype in my opinion. I don't get a lot of wut i'm looking for, and when i do find it the bot is rarey available or i'm put on a ridiculously long wait list "position 12 which will take 8hrs 20min" or it starts to download and then cuts off half way into it. and another thing all this crap about "no virii".....BULL, i got a trojan about a week ago. luckily my norton caught it. like i said, maybe it's just me being frustrated or not knowing wut i'm doing, but it hasn't been fun thus far. also, i got e-mule and that thing sux by far the most, as far as i saw it was the same crap as kazaa but with far slower downloads, and yes i am aware of the problems with kazaa which is why i don't use it any more but finding a suitable replacement is proving unsuccesful. any and all comments welcome, even those calling me an idiot, which i know i'll probably get a lot of.

please tell me if i am doing something wrong.

You're and idiot (you asked for it hehe). Seriously though IRC isnt like Kazaa or whatever you might have used in the past. It takes actual work to learn but more importantly, you gotta have some patience. And queues dont really mean much (depending on the bot and the network) ... you can go from being twentieth in a queue to 1st in line in a blink and a lot of times people leave the channel without dequeuing so the bot thinks there is still people in line but there reeally isnt so you never know.

As for viruses and trojans, unless you went off and pissed some dude off hehe which isnt reccommended then the only practical way to get ya is for you to download the file and run it yourself -- obviously you shouldnt be (a) accepting downloads that you didnt request or (b) executing files for which you dont know about or (c) executing files that you didnt request.

For not finding what you are looking for, IRC isnt really about older files (of course they are around but you gotta do some digging/reading/waiting and that takes patience).

As for emule, I dont like it much but thats just my take on the interface (im more of an overnet fan) -- in either case, emule is still good stuff. Again you have this 'patience' issue which wont get you anywhere except for Kazaa and we know where that goes. If you tough it out with emule it pays you back. I remember getting 10/30 (download/upload) for the longest time but i stuck with it and next thing i new i was doing 30/20.... a couple weeks later it was 100/15 so the stuff actually works --- eventually but you gotta have patience.
