After many score successful rips with DVD Shrink/IMGBurn, my latest Backup is missing the dialog. Some music is there, but the characters move their mouths with no voices. Searching your forum, I came across FixVTS, that sounds like it might fix a dropped pointer, that maybe could be the problem. I can hear the dialog track when I play the disk on the computer with VLC. But, the dialog track will not play in either of my stand alone dvd players.
Am I on the right track? If so, how can I get at the VOB files? Is there freeware available to open the ISO files?
Or am I barking up the wrong tree? XP, 1G ram.

What's the title? It could be a bad rip.

Do you rip the disk to your HDD first, or do you burn straight to a disk?

When you open this disc using DVD Shrink, is the audio listed as LPCM?

Open one of the VOBs using GSpot. The audio should be listed as AC3 mono.

Yes,any of the ripped iso files mounted on Daemon Tools Lite play thru VLC, complete with all dialog. Burned to disk and played in either of two stand alone dvd players, some music is present, but the dialog is missing.

How do I access vob files inside an iso container. Is there a freeware tool.
Pointing G-Spot at the iso:

Is there a way or tool to access the VOB in the iso container?

The original plays fine in my computer and in my stand alone. The copy plays fine in computer, but is without dialog in either of two stand alone players. How do I get to the VOB files within the ISO?
I read somewhere about software that mends damaged pointers in the vob, "FixVTS." Is that a possibility? How do I access the vob files?

Open the Iso with DVD Shrink. Then backup to a folder. Then you can use FixVTS although I believe this is media related.

In GSpot, under the AC3 Audio Codec, Info is listed "0xbd[0x80]:48000Hz 192 kb/s tot , stereo (2/0)"
Would that make a difference?

That shouldn't make a difference although I don't see why a movie that old would use stereo. At least not the ones I have.
If the copies play fine on your PC, my guess would be the settings in your standalone players.

Audio selections correct on shrink when doing the rip ?
Can you rip with dvdfab HD decrypter and play with vlc and see if the results are any better ?
