Hi guys,

After digging through the xbox 360 threads, i see LOTS of mention there as to what media works/doesn't work with the 360. I don't see much of that here though...

My question is this... First of all, does the Wii read burnt dvd-rw's? This would be good to know to load such applications like the media player app without wasting an entire dvdr (cant justify a 800kb burn on a 4.7gb platter, then scrapping).

I understand the sd card possibility... but i would prefer dvd-rw if it does indeed work...

Secondly, is there a preferred type? +R? -R? brand?

and by preferred, i mean are there some that just do NOT work?

Ritek dvd-r dvds have been my bread-and-butter from meritline for some time now... cant beat 200 dvds for around $59 bucks... if those would work, then i'm not going to be interested in upscaling my quality.

Thanks for the 411!

Some have used DVD-RW before but the Wii can be picky at what it will read. So you might have to test some out till you find some that are dependable.

An SD card would be better to load Applications anyway. They are not that expensive. I bought a 2GB at Walmart for $17. You could probably get them even cheaper offline just make sure you buy from a reputable online store.

I use Ritek for all my XBOX 360 games. Haven't really tried Ritek single layer on the Wii but I would assume they should be perfectly fine to use.

I use Tayio Yuden premium for the Wii. I used to use value line Tayio Yudens but they where not dependable. So stay away from Value line Verbatim/Tayio Yudens/Ritek Media.

The format doesn't really matter with the Wii DVD-R/DVD+R both should work. If you do use DVD+R the compatibility will be higher if you booktype it to DVD-ROM if your burner supports it.

All and all it really comes down to what your Wii drive likes. Media I use might not work in your Wii. So start off with a small pack of Ritek and test it out. If your Wii plays the disc then stick with it. If it doesn't buy a small pack of Verbatim or Tayio Yuden.

Burn the ISO with ImgBurn at 4X (or at half the rated write speed).
