hey guys,

I'm trying to update my wii for a few days and have read a lot on the forums, but it's still not working. So I thought I'd ask.
I have a Pal Wii, with version 3.3E. I can play games older than smash bros I guess. I don't know exactly what my version is now, I guess 1.3 but I did play smg and did some updates for it too. Anyway I can't get the 1.9 update to work, I burned it on dvd- and +. It just says that the disc cannot be found, exactly like the new games (star wars, mario sluggers etc). The config disc has the same problem. Do you guys have any ideas? Thanks

have you ever tried to update/config before? are you sure that you have a real wiikey? Having a fake may be your problem. If that's not it, what speed are you burning at? are the files you are using padded?

I still play my wii, just not as much. Gave my PSP to my son.

Try updating to a lower one first?

I have updated when smg came out. I can play that and every other game too, older than that. So it's not a fake wiikey. Sometimes I burn at 2x, sometimes 4x, sometimes 6x. But everyone says something different about that. My discs are from TDK btw. And your last question: I don;t know what padded means. Bye

Have you tried loading the discs, new games, updates, or otherwise, with gecko OS? I heard somewhere that the Wiikey discs are Trucha signed and with the update to Wii FW 3.3 some people have trouble getting their Wii to load the Wiikey cfg and update discs. I don't know how legit this info is or if it only effects some user, my discs work fine and I have Wii FW 3.3. ---Chikn

config and update disks run as GC disk. GC disks are supposed to be 1.35gb for the wii to properly read them. the files that you are trying to put on the disk are a lot smaller than that. When you pad the file, then the disk size goes up from several MB to the 1.35gb size. Sometimes if you don't pad the files, it will still work. Other times it won't. It is just more consistent if you pad the files. You can download files that are already padded, or you can filechop them yourself. For more info you can look at Rafadawn's thread about the wiikey and resources.
