My cousin's 360 red-ringed. I have fixed several 360 that have red-ringed. I am pretty much able to fix anything that has happened to them. Well I fixed the GPU on my cousin's and too my surprise it still red-ringed. So I did what any person who working on them would do. I pulled the error code. It gave me 0102. I figured it wasn't the the CPU or GPU. I took a look on the underside of the mono and I found scratches breaking several traces. I put my pointer finger in the pictures for a size reference. Also the scratches are not very deep, but if someone is able to look at their mobo, those traces are very close together.

I would like to know if there is a way to repair it or is it scraped? I know some people solder wires from point to point, use nail polish and lacquer, and use the stripping for window defrosters, but I do not believe this is feasible with how close these are, but I may always be wrong. Any help would be much appreciated.

i dunno man i mean i would just try to re-do compounds, you could try to lap both chips, tighetn screws. all that good stuff. its hard to tell in the pics but if you have too many broken traces, you might be sol.

from what you're saying you sound like an expert at the handy stuff

so what i suggest is that you scrape the solder mask and test to see if the cuts are affecting connectivity ,and btw you should be getting really good connectivity because this is a closed circuit that will still connect but at higher resistance from the other way around

after those tests you can use that pen like thingy to re-do the traces and test your work

but remember ,google is your friend in finding out what that error code meant

Ok I will try to get some better pictures. What do you mean by "lap both chips"?

laping a chip is kinda like sanding down a peice of wood to make it smooth again. a tiny scratch on a cpu could make it unstable. in which that case you would have to relap.

Ok, so are to referring to the chip it's self or the heat-sink? Also, the only thing that I did different. Was I also applied thermal compound the what I am assuming are ram chips around the cpu, and gpu dies.

What are the chances that the chip is fried?
