Black specks after uncompressed dvd rip

( I searched and found and read similar threads but they all had a lot of variables, using compression, using virtual drives, burning to dvd+r etc,so thought i'd just keep it simple and post a new thread. )

I'm trying to do an uncompressed dvd rip to my hard drive (The Hulk 2003) i've used dvdshrink, dvd decryptor and anydvd (default settings with the exception of dvdshrink were i made it an uncompressed rip)and they all leave occasional black specks. (no error messages)

How can I avoid this? Any responses would definitely be appreciated. :)

Try giving the disc and your laser lens a real good cleaning and try again.
Is this the only disc that does that?

This sounds physical, so is the burner physically "breaking"down ?

May need a new burner ?

The optical drive (Sony Nec BD-Rom) is only a few months old and i haven't had any other trouble with it so i'm farely confident thats ok. i'l clean the DVD and try ripping a different DVD and see if i get the same result. cheers, i'l post with an update in a couple days.

Tried two more DVDs and they both came out perfect, it must have been something physical about the Hulk dvd, looking at it closely it does have weird colouring in a couple spots as if it's been bent slightly or stood on. Big thanks for narrowing it down to something physical dialysis1 and 1bonehead ya saved me hours of mucking around.

I agree if you make a backup that is dirty or scratched that could be it and maybe its in the same place or close to it also use Verbatim or better blanks
