Hello, I'm trying to figure out the best route to getting my ps2 to play backups. Unfortunately, there is a lot of information and I'm starting to get confused.
What I have:
- old, fat ps2 - another old, fat ps2 with a network adapter installed for ff11 (so I guess there's a 40gb hdd inside or something?)
- an additional regular IDE 160gb hdd
- 150gb usbMaxtor hard drive, requiring 2 usb ports, one for data xfer and one for power
What I'm trying to do is find a way to play games off of a hard drive, either the one already inside the ps2 with the network adapter or the usb flash drive. What's the cheapest/most efficient way of doing this?
From what I understand, the old ps2s only have usb 1.1 ports so I won't be able to play all games off of the flash drive, so that doesn't seem like the best option. I've also heard that there is some way to run homebrew applications off of the memory card, so I assume this is the key to making this happen?

Im trying to understand what you have...
But if you have no cd's etc to boot games off the hdd, then heres a few options you can go with...
Swapmagic...
I use this because not only you can boot from the memcard, usb, etc you can also boot backup games that dont work with hdd... and homebrew programs to...
Hdadvance...
This is the simplest way to boot games from the hdd,
Just pop the disc in, hdloader will load, format you hdd etc insteall games etc and your away... Dont think hdavance is up to date to hdloader you can get off the net,, but you need a way to play backups etc like swapmagic :)
And internal hdd is teh way to go... Nemind the usb...
