My son moved away to college and since dorm life space is limited, has anyone used or know of a good TV software? I see all different ones, the free ones are not that good, and some are advertizing up to 6000 programs for $XX amount of money, but today only its less than half. Are they legal and any good, is any one using one of these and if so, which one would you recomend? Or would you go with a new vidio card and hook up the cable to the back of the PC? Or am I posted in the wrong place with this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you are going to purchase a TV card (TV Tuner) I highly recommend the Hauppage series of cards, they include a fairly powerful software package.
BUT! I have ditched my TV Tuner recently as via NBC/Fox's joint venture(that other networks joined) called Hulu (www.hulu.com) there are 100's of shows both from cable shows to free public shows. If it is on air it is on Hulu, both in standard and high definition. Hulu is completely free, all you need is a PC with a broadband connection and the ability to navigate to www.hulu.com
Please check hulu out before dropping cash on a tv card, I bet you will find Hulu very useful and user friendly.
