New System: Black Screen Playback

I have a new machine with a fresh install of XP Pro SP 2 and a WinTV 1250 capture card for off the air HD. Captured Heroes last night and cut the commercials from the MPEG using VideoReDo TVS. I get sound and a black screen when playing back with Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic. VLC plays back okay though. And obviously it displayed okay in VideoReDo.

With a previous computer installing VLC and its codecs solved a similar problem, yet it didn't work here. What should I be doing? Thanks.
