Is there a way to fix mds/mfs files?

Hi,
I have a mds and a mfd file. It's a vcd. Because alcohol 120% doesn't work on my pc I usually mount it and do a cdcopy with nero. But I've got problem with this one. Everytime nero hits 70% I've got a failed message. I've tried to mount it and drag the dat files to my hd but same problem, when it hits 70% I've got an error message. I've even tried after mounting to make an iso out of it but again same problem. My last try was using vcdgear to convert the dat to mpg but got stuck at 69%. So there must be something wrong with the file. Now I want to know are there any tools or anything I can do to fix these mdf & mds?
I can watch the dat files on my computer so why can't I copy or burn them?
