Blu-ray hardware prices are nearing my threshold so I would like to jump into it with a new PC to back-up the discs when I buy them.

Some items listed I have borrowed from another thread here, however my needs are different and I am not sure about some things as this is my first build;

1) This PC will only be used for blu-ray back-ups and for the web, no gaming, no overclocking, and I will never be actually watching movies on it so:

...A) is this the right mb/cpu combo, or do I need something better, or is there something more affordable that will work as well?
...B) Do I need case fans? If so, my wife will demand they be quiet. Any advice on this?

Good combo, but I would recommend at least one case fan at the front where your hard drive is, as backing up bluray rips to HDD will heat up a hard disk A LOT (50 celsius plus, without a fan)

That sounds like very good advice. After searching through dozens of available products I will add the following to my Newegg order;
Case Fan: $15 + $7 shipping
Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E 120mm Case Fan

Thank you for loaning me your experience Sam.

Those are excellent quiet fans, probably the exact ones I would have recommended.
