I have some ASF files which Windows Media Player shows their properties to be 477 Kbps bit rate, 480x270 (16x9), 29.97 fps, with 128 Kbps 48 kHz stereo audio. I am going to use these file as a source for a DVD. My question is what encoding bit rate should I use? Will I lose quality if I use a relatively low bit rate setting, say 2000 Kbps, when I encode the ASF files? Or because the original ASF files' bit rate is so low anyway, it will not matter what bit rate I use as long as it is above the original 477 Kbps bit rate of the originals? What I am not sure of is if the bit rate of ASF files are really what Windows Media Player shows...ie. due to compression, etc.

Thanks!

I think DVD flick enforces a minimum of 2000Kbps.
Any BR above that should be fine.
