Need help playing (xvid asd).avi on my DVD player

Thank you in advance for your help. I bought a Panasonic Home DVD player that is compatible with DivX. The only thing I've had to do in the past is use the DivX converter to change AVI to DivX. I recently downloaded files that have (xvid asd).avi for an extension. The only reason I noticed is because the size was cut in half. My son has the DVD player at college. Do(xvid asd).avi play the same as any other AVI or DivX file? Or, is there some process I need to use to change them to DivX? I've looked all through the forums and am now up to speed on xvid, asd, asf, etc. I couldn't find anything that addressed my particular question. Thanks! Have a great day! Chris
