Mars Pro GM-816HD - won't load DVD discs

Hi everyone,


I have installed a Mars Pro GM-816HD modchip in my SCPH-75002 PS2.
It now loads backup games that are on a CD but says "Failed to read disk" when I insert a game on a DVD.
This happens with original games and backups.
It reads CD's fine but not DVD's.

I have tried adjusting the laser voltage with no success.

Is there a wire I need to check on the modchip or something I am missing.
I have tried disabling the chip by holding down reset button until "sony clouds pic" comes up as the manual says and this appears to disable the chip as the backups on CD wont run but it still wont load DVD discs.

Hi everyone,

I found the problem and decided to post it for people that have the same problem in the future.

The soldering of the "k" wire had damaged the via.
By soldering the wire to the via and the resistor pin next to the via I managed to fix the problem.
