I have DVD Shrink and Nero installed on my Desktop computer and my Laptop. The desktop has 2 DVD burner drives & the laptop has one. When I use Shrink on my desktop Nero automatically opens and burns my movie (I insert the original movie in one drive and a blank disc in the other). The reulting movie is unplayable on my dvd player saying there are no playback menus. I am able to play the movie on my computer though. When I use DVD Shrink on my laptop after encoding I need to manually open Nero and drag the DVD files to Nero, insert a blank disc and then burn. The resulting movie IS playable on my DVD Player. I checked the settings for DVD Shrink and they seem to be identical on both my desktop and my laptop. Is there something I'm missing. I prefer to use my desktop because it encodes a lot faster than my laptop.

What type of disks are you using, +r or -r? What brand of media are you using? What speed are you burning at on your desktop?

I am using Nero 8 on both machines and it works fine with DVD Shrink on my laptop so it is compatible. It does burn the full movie onto the disc on my drsktop as well but for some reason there are no playback menus. If I put the disk that I burned with my desktop into my laptop and then re-encode it, then burn it again, the disc is playable on my DVD player. Once again, I have the exact same software on both computers, DVD Shrink, Nero 8 on a Windows Vista OS. The laptop makes perfect copies. This leads me to think that the settings for DVD Shrink or Nero are different on my desktop vs my laptop. I've used DVD +R & -R and both seem to work and are playable. Thanks for the help so far.

Thanks for the info. It makes sense. So, how do I disable auto burning on DVD Shrink?

Open dvd shrink, click on edit, click on preferences, click on file I/O. You will see where autoburn is at. Just uncheck the box, and it will be disabled.
