I modded a slim ps2 (v12 I think with a matrix or dms mod for a friend of mine and it's not reading the games so well, however original games work fine. I checked the wires on it and all of them seemed to be on solid and connected fine. I read somewhere a while ago that attaching a second ground wire to an alternate point could help but I can't see that working personally. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Did you install a laser fix? Your laser could be on it's way out. You can pick up a new on on ebay for around 20 bucks. Try cleaning the lens first, tho.

Thanks for the reply stabby I didn't install the laser fix but the ps2 was one of the versions that didn't need it and I don't think it's the laser either as my friend is more of a casual gamer. I was thinking maybe on using a little thicker wire to attach to the bios points and see how that goes or maybe clean up my messy install lol.

The best wire for power and ground points is 22 AWG solid. Your bios points should be 30 AWG Kynar wire. Make sure all of your wires are laying flat against the board. And make your Power and Ground as short as possible.

The V12 PS2 was indeed the version with laser issues. You must have either a V13 or above.

Also, make sure you use quality DVD-R media. Verbatim is best.

Good luck!
