I've been on a quest to find out why my CD burner keeps getting underrun errors and while scouting through the device manager, I came across a warning that a device is not properly installed. Under SCSI and RAID controllers, the ST3WOLF SCSI Controller
says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."

When reinstalling the driver, an error occurs and it says "the driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry." Uninstalling it has the same effect. A. What is this ST3WOLF thing, B. How do I fix it, and C. Would this have anything to do with my random underrun errors?

"Burn underrun error avoided 211 times" -Nero

1) What is the brand name of your cd burner and model?
2) Is your cd burner IDE (ATAPI) or SCSI?
3) What O/S system are you using? (WinXP or Win2k Pro)?

1. I have a Liteon DVD-ROM LTD163 cd drive and a _NEC CD-RW NR-9100A burner.

2. I dont know what my burner is. I have the Primary/Secondary IDE under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers menu and I have the ST3WOLF SCSI Controller under the SCSI and RAID controllers menu.

3. Windows XP Professional

Hiya,

I think you will find that ST3WOLF is a virtual SCSI driver associated with the Silicon Image SATA controller.

You probably have a Raid controller on the motherboard, yes??

Have Fun...

I have no clue what my motherboard has. It's all Dell and they don't give specifics on that. None the less, why would my ST3WOLF not be installed right and be unable to get fixed?

Aaahhhh!

It could get a little bit difficult helping you if you cannot tell us what is in your machine and how it is connected.

We would need to know the following:
what is the Primary Master?
what is the Primary Slave?
what is the Secondary Master?
what is the Secondary Slave?
what other I/O controllers are in your system?
what devices are connected to them?

Have Fun...

Oh my... you're going to have to tell me how to find that stuff out because I kind of have no clue what those things are. I can only go to a medium level of computer technicalities before I get lost.
