Hey Rich,

I don't know about the Duraband 5.1 but I'm assuming it's just a speaker package. Anyway, you will need a receiver (amp) to plug your speakers into and make sure it has an optical input. Run your optical cable from the back of the 360 to your receiver. Then on the amp you will have to find which channel is the optical output and you should be good to go. You will probably have to fine tune your 5.1 setup to your liking with placement of the speakers and sound output too. But that's it you should be enjoying your system in no time at all. Good luck!

thanks for that i have an amp with the speaker package, but i dont see a optical output does that mean im screwed, it only has the input and output, i dont see no room for a optical cable link, so i believe ill either have to take them back and get another 1 or just enjoy the amp and 2 speakers is that right? cheers everyone

don't see optical output? It's right on the back of the cables that output video and sound for the 360. Look right where the cables plug into the 360, and there is a hole to plug your optical cable into which serves as the output from the 360. Then all you need to do is plug it into an optical input in your amp. Once in there, your amp will send that to your speakers.

Looking at the description on the WalMart page, your only inputs are 3.5mm and rca. So that's it. Doesn't it tell you on the box?

For $40, I really doubt you'll find anything with optical.

why are you looking for an optical out in your amp? You have the optical coming out of the 360, therefore, you want an optical INPUT in your amp. But if bhetrick is right, and you don't have an optical input, then that would solve everything. You can't power your speakers by that. You could use hdmi, but if you don't have optical, I am doubting you have hdmi inputs for it. You might just have to use the audio cables that come with either your component cables.

Hey again Rich,

Sorry to hear no optical input...bummer. Sounds like you may have to upgrade in that department, however, I don't believe you will be able to use your Xbox on your laptop screen. But an interesting concept none the less. Take care.
