I am running Nero 6.6.1.15 and Windows XP Pro SP 3. I have plugins installed for both Mp3Pro (purchased from nero) and for Lame MP3. Both plugins are listed when I check File - Preferences - Plugin Lookup. However, as far as I can tell, Nero ALWAYS uses the Mp3Pro plugin by default and I can't find any way to tell Nero to use the Lame plugin. If I disable the Mp3Pro plugin, then Nero gives me an error message when I try to convert files or create an audio CD: "One or more files could not be added to a compilation. It may be possible that the files can be added if a dedicated plug-in is installed." So it doesn't look as if Nero is recognizing the Lame plugin.

I have tried installing the Lame mp3 plugin from 2 different sources - bitburner and Cole2k. As far as I can see, I have followed all the instructions and the nxLame.dll is in the correct folder: \program files\common files\ahead\audioplugins

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to tell Nero what plugin to use, and if I have done anything wrong in my installation of the Lame plugin.
