fit mkv to m2ts on dvd5

i have a bunch of mkv content that's 4.5gb. if i convert them into m2ts to play on my ps3, the file exceeds dvd5. i don't want to recode everything so i am thinking the best method is to just recode the audio. i encoded my audio in 5.1 ac3, i wouldn't mind recoding them to 2.1 ac3 to get my files to fit on a dvd5. does anyone know the quickest and easiest method to do this? thank you.

Well, if you've got it, MeGUI has an audio encoder that works well enough for me. I dunno if it'll work right or not, but... I dunno. You could try it.
