Does anyone here know what program and setings axxo uses to make the files he does. I need to convert my dvd's to that, for playing on my new mediagate mg-450 HD . I've tried a lot of different programs and settings but they don't work. Axxo's files play prefect.

Well a statement like that is of no help. Folks will start recommending programs not knowing if you have tried them.

That may be so, but I don't want to know about a lot of programs just the one axxo uses ,if anyone knows.
I have tried my fab platuim 4 and 5 the moble settings ,they either come out sound and no picture, or the sound is out of sync, or it just says unknow file. tried xilisoft video converter , and no pictures with that just sound. I am now trying fairuse full, and it works but not much control over the resolution part. Will now be trying autogk, and super, to see how they work.
Axxo's are the best.

I used AutoGK for the first time yesterday, did Leatherheads as that was the first movie to hand, (it had already been run thru DVD Rebuilder Pro with the awesome HC encoder, version 0.23). AutoGK seemed to work fine, the end result was 896MB; i just used all default settings, as per this guide - http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd_to_avi_autogk.cfm
It took a few hours, though that's not surprising as it was running alongside DVD Rebuilder, ConvertxtoDVD and DVD Flick. Need to try AutoGK on it's own sometime to see what the runtime is really like (on my Quad Core Q6600).

edit- the quality of the 896MB AVI file is pretty darn good on my 32" tv (and that's playing it thru an old xbox via XBMC). Am especially pleased considering the original movie had been run thru DVD Rebuilder already. I forget how big the original movie was (movie only mode, ripped via DVDFab) but just checked my DVD Rebuilder logfile and the video compression was 79.5% to single layer so i'll let you do the math on the original dvd movie size :)

No problem, ps just expanded my original reply.
MysticE most likely knows a lot more than me about DVD-AVI converting, i'd never done it before, though it was always on my list.
Am pleased to say AutoGK was very simple to use, though even if it's runtime turns out to be reasonable, i can't face re-ripping a few thousand dvd's back to hard drives, and then to convert them all to AVI. If done it'd be a huge saving in space ie great to have them all online so to speak, i could then watch them all over the network via my various xboxes instead of digging out dvd's to watch. But it was really just a short experiment, to see what a movie conversion would turn out like, and i will definitely still do the odd movie conversion now and then, just can't face the idea of doing most or all of my movies :)

edit- i now use 1400MB as the default setting for all converions.
