Is it possible to have a pair of gamertags on two different systems?

I had to send in my xbox 360 for repairs and I just got it back today, but while it was out of commission I picked up a used system so that I could continue to play games. Now I have two systems and I would like to put the used system in my bedroom and keep my repaired system in the living room.

My brother and I both have gamertags on the repaired console and would like to have them available on the used system as well as be able to play our DLC that was purchased on the repaired console.

The used console came with it's own hard drive so can I just move the hard drive to my repaired console and redownload the DLC or recover my gamertag and then redownload my purchased DLC so that the DLC will be playable on both systems?

The one in the bedroom won't be able to be connected to live because I don't want to run wires through my walls or pay for the Xbox 360 wireless adapter and since the system in the living room will be the primary system I want all the DRM to be associated with that system.

I'm pretty sure that you can recover your gamertag on the second console as well. I just think the only limitation will be is that you can't be on live, with the same gamertag, from more than one console at a time. You could probably go from one to another, but not on both at the same time.

I would then think that when you recover your gamertag, you should go ahead and redownload everything that you purchased previously. Now, if you have to be on live to play it (geometry wars 1, etc.) then that is another issue.

Let us know how it works. You might as well give it a shot.

the recover gamertag will take the one off your other xbox

what you can do is
buy a memory card and move your gamertag on it and put it in your xbox you want to use

Right, it won't work. I tried it. Thought it'd be nice not to have to swap hdds. After you recover your tag on the second console, you can't log back on to it on the first console.
