Greetings,

I am interested in getting a PSP and I want to get it modded so I can enjoys ISOs CSOs.

Is there a particular PSP I should be looking at? Should I get the one on the shelf these days with the Madden 09 package or should I try and score an older fat PSP? In general, what is the process to mod for older gen versus new generation PSPs?

Secondly, what kind of storage medium and how much of it would you recommend for keeping a few games, 20 songs, and a movie or 2?

Perhaps this question has been asked 1000 times before and you can provide a link for me to help myself.

Thanks in advance.

I would say your preference for a psp should be your own, but I have read that people with the Blue Slim Madden Edition are having problems getting cfw installed. Im runnin a red god of war slim and and white star wars slim with have modded probably 30 or psps this week.

I've been using the sandisk 4gb ultra II mem stick and I love it. As for what to keep on it, thats totally up to you.

You are on a forum dedicated to helping the inexperienced. Do a few searches and see what you can find. If your looking to run custom firmware there are tons of answers here.

Thanks for the reply.

Can you give me an example of what you 4GB card holds. # of games/music/movies?

I have heard the same about the blue PSPs that is why I am proceeding with caution. I am not a tech wizard and I understand that some PSPs require a Pandora battery mod, I am trying to avoid a complex process here but maybe I should just buy a unit and find someone locally to mod it for me.

As for playing ISOs CSOs, one the machine is modded is it as simple as downloading the games and transferring them to a specific folder on the chip?

Thanks again,

Neo

you can avoid a complex process quite easily but just buying a pandora battery from a shop online ... its really quite easy after that.

as far as how much a 4gb holds... it depends on the size of what you're copying onto it.

game ISO's range from 100 meg to 1.3 gig ...

a tv show could be 100 meg to 500 meg... movies even bigger

personally i prefer my 8gb card to my 4gb card LOL

Hi again all,

Another question for ya: What is a magic memory stick and what does it do? How is it different from a Pro Duo that you buy at the store?

Thanks again,

no different from a pro duo as it is one its just a normal memory stick with some special files on it that allow you to boot the psp in service mode

i would advise also getting the new slim psp as they are still as homebrew capable as the old fat ones with most homebrews.

though watch out for the TA-088v3 motherboards as they are unmodable at the moment

use this for making the mms http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313

Can I tell what motherboard I have prior to opening the unit?

Is the PSP in the Madden 09 package a slim? I can only seem to find two in the stores: Madden Package PSP = 199 , Piano Black PSP = 169.

That said, I have seen people advertising their pre-modded PSPs with 4-8GB memory sticks for 160-200.

Not sure which way I am going yet.

Thanks for all of the assistance folks.

i think if it really really brand new it may have the new TA-090 motherboard which is mod able

the only way i can thing of that you could tell from the box is find a serial number and find it by that but other than that theres no real way of telling as far as i know

though im sure the TA-088v3 psp owners will not be left out by DAX and it wil be modded

If I go with a new PSP out of the box will it come with the cords I need to interface with my laptop? I realize I will need a memory chip. Will I open the box and be good to go or will I open the box and realize "oh snap" I can upload these ISOs from my laptop.

Any other considerations I should be aware of?

The day is coming, I am almost ready to jump of the cliff and get me a PSP!

Thanks,
