quick question Ok we all know that the heat from inside the xbox is what screw up the solder and gives you the rrod. But what if you play with the cover removed and let all the heat out in the open air. That should remove the heat from inside since it shoots up from the xbox into your house. Just curious if that will prevent rrod for a while.

Doubt that will help much. In fact, you'll be more open to dust build up.

You want fresh air to be pushed/pulled across the heatsinks. That's what purpose the heatsink shroud serves. You'd be better off just removind some of the metal casing from the side and rear of the 360. That'll give the air flow less restriction.

Also, replacing the stock fan with a Whisper Max will make a good difference. Than fan in turbo mode really does cool down the 360.

Plus MS uses crappy thermal paste.
The heatsinks can't do their job if the paste is dried, brittle and not doing the job of dissipating the heat that the gpu and cpu create.
