I am looking for a FREE software that convert DVD to avi.

something that will be free and friendly like ShrinkDVD...:)

Try using AutoGK. This is a time consuming process, but renders good results.

You needn't to convert mkv to avi before burning MKV to DVD. I am using SPAM Converter which comes from SPAM official site. It can convert and burn mkv to dvd directly. You can download the software from SPAM download page . Good luck!
