Hi... I have a Macbook and there are some pretty terrible options to get HD movies playing. With the cheap price of the 360 HD-DVD drive and HD-DVD movies, combined with how many movies I want to see on the format it is a good start and I probably still won't see all the HD-DVD's I want to by the time Blu-ray is more easily accessible and cheaper.

So I have some questions...

1. With my Windows XP desktop can I back-up HD-DVD's with the 360 external HD-DVD drive onto it?

2. After I have a ripped file is there a way to compress it as much as possible without losing quality then bring it back onto my Macbook and play it with VLC? It really won't matter what kind of file it is because I will be playing it with VLC.

3. What will I need to do this? How big will a typical HD-DVD movie be after compression?
