Wondering if someone can help.My wii has a d2ckey and all was good til a few months ago when games like Mario Kart and all the latest releases are now giving the 001 error. It is really cracking me up trying to find a solution to this problem. Is there anything can be done, ie is there an update available, or can anyone suggest a solution. It will save my sanity as i have been searching the web the last couple of months without any success. Thanks in advance.

D2Ckey isnt supposed to get error 001. The fact that you are suggests something is wrong with your modchip. However the firmware on the D2Ckey is not upgradable.

The way I see it you have 2 options:
1) Replace the chip
2) Truncha the newer games that give this error to remove the disk-check. Note that if you have firmware 3.3 on your wii you wont be able to load these games normally, you'll have to boot them through gecko in the homebrew channel.

The issue could be 3.3 firmware and trucha signed disc instead of the Modchip anyway.

I would install the Homebrew Channel and boot them via Gecko OS as penguin98 has suggested.

If you want to install the Homebrew Channel and have firmware 3.2 or below then use the ISO instaler that can be found on the Homebrew Channel Website.

If you have firmware 3.3 on the Wii system then follow this guide HERE to install Homebrew Channel and Gecko OS.

I thought of that first but I believe truncha signed disks on firmware 3.3 just give a standard disk read error, not error 001. You're right though that it cant hurt to try running them through gecko before doing any other steps.

I never used Trucha Signed disc so have no idea what error message it gave.

But I do know as you said the D2Ckey had the #001 fix and there really should be no reason to be getting the error if that is the Modchip they have.

In anycase Gecko OS should fix the issue.
