I have X-copy Xpress installed on my computer and it works for fewer and fewer titles as encryption gets better so I downloaded DVD Shrink and ImgBurn. I copied the ImgBurn exe. file to the DVD Shrink program file and now instead of DVD Decrypter under Target, I get ImgBurn as an option. I used this combo at the advice of another user of AfterDawn but the program combo will not create a backup file or ISO. So, I hit re-author instead and trimmed all the excess off except the main title and voila! The program decrypted and saved the file. I successfully burned the file to a blank DVD-R but when I tried to play the movie in my DVD player, I got the video just fine but the audio was the director's commentary! I started over and burned it again with the same results!! Under re-author there is no option for selecting audio streams, that I can tell anyhow, so I was wondering how I can fix this problem. Is there any different software I could be using that is better? I am a complete idiot when it comes to technical installations of complicated software but I am getting better so could somebody give me a step-by-step of how to correctly rip and burn a DVD?

Thank you,
C

You've got probably the most reliable programs for what you are doing right now...you just need to learn to use them :) I would suggest adding DVDFab HD Decrypter to your arsenal for ripping. This thread will give you some answers to your questions and also provides some guides on how to use those programs.

thank you very much!! After some browsing on this webside, it seems my question is a frequent one so I am exploring some other options as well. One more thing, when I download or link to user's guides for these programs, I am assaulted with all kinds of technical jargon and acronyms, 95% of which I dont understand. Is there maybe a guide to how to understand these guides? :) I have no formal training with regard to computer use and what I do know I've gleaned from internet use. I am a science major so I catch on quickly and plan to take a few computer science courses over the next few semesters, in the mean time I just wanna burn some DVD's!!! Any help would be appreciated!!

Thank You

Most of the terms or jargon you have questions about are defined HERE. For anything not listed there a quick Google search will have you "in the know" in no time at all. Good luck.
