samsung laser issue fix??

I am having issues with the laser or motor not detecting games. It is giving me the "Unreadable Disc Error", but is definitely not a magnet issue.

The laser will not move up and down. If i stick the laser directly behind the spindle, the spindle spins but in short sessions...spin ..stop..spin..stop and so on!!

If i stick the laser to the back of the drive it slowly starts to move down towards the spindle, but won't slide up.

I have lightly oiled the guide rails but to no avail..cleaned the lens..nothing

Any help is always appreciated thanks

i am having the same exact problem. i did almost the same things as you to try to fix it too. i also tried the pot tweaking. i made the laser more powerful and still no results!!!

yeah i can hear it struggling to work and from what i have seen on videos most people's systems read for like a second or two, and then display the error message.

With mine it almost takes a minute until the message is displayed.

same. i have a feeling that we will end up having to buy new disk drives. but until then i have no problem messing around with this one to see if i get lucky and figure it out lol.

Did you Guys Try Replaceing the lasaer yet?I have also had this problem and that was it.I ordered it off Ebay.I have also had the drive just straight Crap out on me,but I'd try a laser before buying a new Drive.Worse Case you have a Extra laser for your New Drive if you have to get one.The laser's are really easy to replace.

do u have to get a laser specifically build for our samsung drives? or how does that work, can u just buy any kind of xbox 360 disk drive laser?

Just go to ebay type samsung laser xbox 360 and there will 2 types listed,Just match the part number with the laser in your xbox more than likely it's prob the Hd-63.The Number is located underneath your laser,Match it up with the auction Numbers you will see what I'm talking about when you vist a Auction.
