Customer Firmware incompatible with regular firmware?

Well long story short me and my friend can't play some games over Ad Hoc...kinda hard to describe

In summary:

-Tekken works when only I alone have the game's .ISO image on my memstick and do "Game Sharing" with him ... it works flawlessly and syncs right up

-Warhammer 40k Squad Command however does not work, setup in the same way as Tekken with the .ISO on my memstick and I "Game Share" with him ... it just sits there saying its trying to connect, we actually get the invites from eachother but it freezes there.

-Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron doesn't work and he has the UMD Disc for it and I myself have the .ISO image on my memstick and we can't see eachother in the Ad Hoc lobby.

I'm wondering if this is any issue with me running CFW and him using official Firmware?

Thoughts? Ideas?

Could be. Since you are running CFW, why don't you flash his to CFW too using pandora? It could also be a problem if you are trying it with slim/fat psp and could also be the game. PSP's wifi isn't the greatest.
