I have been trying to "extract" small videos, maybe AVI from a DVD which is in VOB, IFO, BAK, etc format.

I think if I can get it to a AVI, there are AVI "splitters" that can extract some scenes.

Problem is, all the DVD converters, dont treat the DVD as a whole video but wants only to convert the VOB to AVI and most says "there is no sound" as it trys to open non-VOB files.

Anyone have a process that one can extract, say a 5 min clip from a DVD movie?

Is there any program that you can play a DVD and extract what you are watching?

Thanks

You can use DVD Shrink in 'Reauthor' mode to select a small clip and save as an ISO file or to a new DVD folder.
Either can be played with the like of VLC media player.
Open the movie, click 'Reauthor' and drag 'Title 1' from the right side of the window to the left pane.
Right click on 'Title 1' and select 'Set start/end frames'.
Select the required clip with the slider control, 'OK' then 'Backup'.

Alternately, if you want AVI format, you can open the whole movie in VirtualDub (must have the MPEG2 plugin installed) and select a clip and save using the appropriate (installed) codec.

I regularly use the DVD Shrink Reauthor method. Works like a charm. You can even save numerous clips to folder and make a compilation video and burn to DVD.

Man does that work SLICK!!.

Hate to ask but, with all those VIDEO/VOB clips, you said you can do a compilation? Is that like "joining" them into one large clip?

If not, how can one "join" them?

Thanks again.

Go back to DVDShrink and under Preferences tell it not to split the VOB's. You'll end up with one large one
