First of all im in the uk and i have the new 80gb ps3 there is only one problem with it. The ps3 can't play ps2 games i realy want to play ps2 games because my ps2 broke i have heard rumours that there is some sort of ps2 data that allows you to play ps2 games on the ps3 i have searched the ps store but i can't find it can somone tell me where i could find it please
As was stated in another thread, there is a rumor (repeat: RUMOR) that the firmware 2.5 update will include a PS2 software emulator for the 40 GB and new 80 and 160 GB PS3s.
But again, it's just a rumor. Don't think it's a cold hard fact.
It's a RUMOR. Repeated a third time to make sure people who are of lesser intelligence who go skimming through these threads don't get confused.
Again, it is just a RUMOR.
...that said, I'd try waiting 'til the next firmware update to see if anything changes. If not, then you'll probably have to get a new PS2.
I have an 80gb PS3 bungle package with MGS4 and its plays all the PS2 games I have tried so far. I thought all 80gb models did software emulation maybe not in the UK sorry pal.
There was a recent upgrade in which the 40GB model was replaced by a new 80GB model, and the current 80GB model (which was included in the MGS4 bundle) was replaced with a 160GB model.
The new 80GB and 160GB models are essentially the 40GB model with upgraded hard drives, hence the inability of DX to play PS2 games.

Quick question, do the new 80's and 160's have 4 usb ports?
Uh, not sure. According to the Wikipedia page, the new ones seem to have the exact same specs as the 40GB, sans the hard drive. So... 2 USB ports, it looks like.
