Laser swap with samsung

I have a drive thats currently on the fritz and with a warranty thats already out I'm still trying to figure out if its simpler to replace the laser or just swap the pcbs where the drives are identical (Samsung ms28 and samsung ms28 ect)


help please?

You may just want to buy a new ms28 drive! You can buy them on ebay and they're pretty cheap. Here is a link to the ms28's on ebay:

I have purchased one, just amongst all the Flashing tutorials I BELIEVE all I have to do is swap the pcb keeping in mind the firmware should be the same, the only confusion I think thats left is I've seen several tutorials that also swap the laser ribbon and I wanna know if thats neccessary?
