I'm new here, so I hope I've chosen the right thread to post my questions.

There we go:

See, I've always seen my dvd and vcd in a 4:3 TV or in my PC display (4:3 as well), but now I have bought a portable dvd and its screen is 16:9. Now some of the VCD look a little "deformed", so I tried to use that dvd option that allows you to change the screen type from 16:9 to 4:3 (or vice virsa) but it's no use. Although I change that option the screen does not change. I thought that it had something to do with the VCD I had created, so I played a DIVX file and ¡surprise!, this time when I changed that option it actually changed the screen. Ok, I got an original dvd movie and played it. Again, when I changed the 16:9 to 4:3 option nothing happened. So, to be sure that it wasn't only a "failure" on the portable dvd, I played the three kind of movies (dvd, vcd and divx) in a standrad dvd player, with the same results.

Does anybody know what's the problem? Why the player does not seem to change anything in the screen when playing mpeg 1/2 but it does when you play a DIVX?

I'm REALLY pissed off with this!
