The 3000 just came out here in Japan. I went to the local electronics store, and the 2000 is now marked down to $150, whereas the 3000 is priced at $200.
I want to get one of them, and set it up to be able to play games from a memory stick. My DS setup has shown me the greatness of not having to lug around cartridges and never having to swap games.
Now, my other plan is to play games on my t.v. I believe that both the 2000 and 3000 have this ability, though they would require an extra adapter to do so. I probably wouldn't do too much portable gaming with the PSP, and rather am interested in getting it due to a few hit titles that can't be played anywhere else.
So.. does anyone have any suggestions on which system to go for? I would love to be able to save the $50, but I kind of am a sucker for new features. If I am not going to be able to take advantage of them though... then it wouldn't make sense to splurge on the 3000, especially now that the 2000 is being marked down.
Ive only just started reading up on the 3000, but im pretty sure if your planning on just playing on the tv, i would go with the 3000.
The 3000 would show up better on tv if i understand correctly, something to do with the interlacing
Wow, that is sweet. I wouldn't have guessed that the system could output games in 480p! Interlaced maybe, but the same resolution as the Wii from a handheld system is pretty impressive if you ask me.
How much would the setup (excluding memory stick) cost me for modding my PSP to play games from memory stick? I spent about $80 for my DS, so I am hoping to be able to mod the PSP under $100...
You'd need a Magic Memory Stick as well as a Pandora battery. People sell them online together for $35. Or, you could just get a guy to do it for you. I got mine modded for $20. After the mod, you'd only need the MMS and Pandora Battery if you accidentally brick the PSP, but as long as you're careful and not mess with the flash0 then you should be fine.
Hmmm.. sounds good enough. Problem is that I live in Japan, so I will have to do the modding myself. Don't feel like paying international surface/airmail rates.
I WOULD be safe getting a Japanese PSP and modding it though? That shouldn't cause me any problems down the line, right? I am worried about region compatibility, and whether the battery would correctly work or not.. and other things of that nature.
Just Try to buy Pandora Battery in www.Rakuten.com its easy to buy things from rakuten...n u dont need Credit Card either....but for psp 3000 im not sure it can be modified.....cos it new...
mocha: Great idea. I have bought lots of stuff from rakuten, and always had a great experience. Some of the payment methods took some getting used to, but the speed of delivery you get in Japan is awesome.
If I were to get a Japanese pandora battery and Japanese PSP I would be set then.
There are no region-lockouts on the PSP though, right? I will be playing games from both the US and Japan... so I wanna make sure that I am alright in this area.
