If I want to burn a DVD that I will use only for my home DVD player, is it OK to burn the DVD at 4x? Will it still play clear or should I burn at a lower speed such as 2x?

As long as the media and burner are capable of burning at 4x it will work.. but you'll get the least errors and best results (fewer coasters) by burning at 1x..
